With four decades of celebrity writing behind her, she commenced her career as a journalist after an honours and a master’s in English literature from Indraprastha College, Delhi University, and a diploma in journalism from Dateline Delhi, in 1981. She has been an accredited Media Critic and held positions as the Chief Correspondent of Celebrity magazine, Chief of Delhi Bureau of five magazines, i.e. Society, Savvy, Showtime, Parade, Island, Senior Contributor with Newstrack (video newsmagazine of India Today), and with a streak for travel, did foreign travel assignments for Destination Traveller, traversing various destinations, like Moscow, Tashkent, Bangkok, Phuket, Paris, Singapore, Durban, etc. Subsequently, she launched and edited the in-flight magazine of Damania Airways, Touch.

She was extended an invitation by the British Tourist Authority and Foreign & Commonwealth Office in Britain to visit the universities of Oxford and Cambridge to write on ‘The Indo-Oxbridge Connection’, besides penning the success stories of leading Indians in London and Bradford.

She diversified into the realm of publishing and took over as the Commissioning Editor of Sterling Publishers in 1996. During this tenure (1996-'98), she brought out some significant titles:

• India at 50: Bliss of Hope & Burden of Reality, which was released by President KR Narayanan and awarded the first prize by the Federation of Indian Publishers in the category of books on the 50 years of India; a corollary to this seminal volume

• Transcreated the renowned litterateur Amrita Pritam's autobiography from Hindi to English, Shadows of Words

• Penned Straight from the Heart, bestselling autobiography of the Wisden Indian Cricketer of the Century, Kapil Dev

Set up a new publishing house, Stellar, in April 2004, aspiring to break fresh grounds in quality publishing, in the world of literature, translated works, corporate biographies, memoirs and autobiographies of some of the best-known achievers in the country in the arena of art, culture, cinema, politics and sports.
